The Alabama Council for Technology in Education has hosted a technology competition for over 20 years. The Northwest Regional ACTE Tech Fair is held each spring at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Students in grades 3-12 present projects in six different categories: computer programming, web design, multimedia, robotics, video production, and general applications. Individual and group projects are judged separately. Students may also compete individually in the information technology test.  A team programming challenge for grades 7-12 is held the night before. First and second place winners in all categories are eligible to compete in the state fair in Montgomery at the AUM campus. Only the first place winners in the team programming event may compete at the state level.
